We build custom desktop software for Windows and macOS: programs installed on your company's or facility's computers, which also work offline and keep data encrypted on site. It is a new service, in beta, built on our experience with Dibo, our software for residential care settings.

Why KVA
When you need installed software
A web app is often the right choice, but not always. When data must not leave the company, when the connection is weak or missing, or when the work happens every day on fixed workstations, a program installed on the computer is simpler to use and easier to protect. That is why the first question is whether you really need desktop software: if a web app is enough, we will tell you.
We know this first-hand. Dibo, the logbook for residential care settings, is our own software for Windows and macOS: it works with no internet and no cloud, encrypts data field by field on the computer and makes automatic backups that are encrypted too. Every educator has their own login, every change is logged with author and time, and installation uses signed installers for both systems.
Desktop software is a new service and we offer it in beta: every project starts with a written functional specification and is quoted case by case, until we have a price range to publish. As with every project, we work fully remotely: remote analysis, a prototype to approve, test versions to install on your computers, then release and further updates.

Desktop software is a new service, in beta, and does not have a published price range yet: we quote it case by case on the functional specification, based on features, integrations and number of workstations. The quote follows a few days after the analysis, with no obligation.

Common questions
The most common questions before building a Windows and Mac program: when it makes sense, costs, data, installation and what beta means.
When is desktop software better than a web app?
When data must stay on the company's or facility's computers, when the internet connection is unreliable, or when the program is used every day on fixed workstations. If instead you need access from anywhere and shared work across different sites, a web app is usually simpler: during the analysis we tell you frankly which way makes sense.
How much does Windows and Mac software cost?
It is a new service, in beta, and does not have a published price range yet: every project is quoted on the written functional specification, based on features, integrations and number of workstations. As with all our projects, the minimum is €1,600 excluding VAT.
Does the program work offline?
Yes, if the project requires it: like Dibo, it can store data on the computer and work with no connection. If you need sync between several workstations or a link to online services, we define it in the specification and explain which data goes over the network and which does not.
How is the data protected?
With personal logins and roles, a log of who did what and, where needed, encryption of the data on the computer and encrypted automatic backups, as in Dibo. Who can see and change what is decided in the specification, together with you.
How is it installed and updated?
With signed installers for Windows and macOS, which the system recognises as coming from a verified developer. New versions are distributed the same way; updates and support after release are agreed in the quote.
Why is the service in beta?
Because it is new as a client service, even though we have already put it to the test on our own software: Dibo is the first project and gave us the method and the tools. At this stage every project is assessed and quoted individually, and we look after it with the same care as our own products.
